Geography

Katherine has been studying the continent of Africa for about 6 weeks. She has been working to memorize all the countries and capitals. This week she tested her skills. She was able to draw the whole thing from memory and list all the capitals! Way to go Katherine!

This year she has been working towards drawing the world from memory on a blank piece of paper. Here is some of her work from this year:

Central America map

South America map

Europe map

Asia map

Well, that about sums up our year in geography. I will try to post her latest world map later this week.

Our Day Today

It was so windy last night that I thought for sure there would not be a single leaf left on the trees in our neighborhood. We set out this morning on a walk to see if there were any left on our favorite tree. This tree is at a house just drown the road. Shockingly, there were still some leaves attached…

During the walk we decided to plant some bulbs around the mailbox. We will see if some pretty daffodils pop up this spring. I will try to post on the progress. I had Katherine sketch the bulbs in a science journal with the date. We are going to attempt to chart the progress of these flowers this year.

Here is another pic by the creek in the backyard. I just love this time of year. It was nice getting out a bit this morning.

Beach 2013

We made it to the beach for a few days this month. John was out of town so it was me and the kids, my sister, Kathy, and the girls, and my mom. We had a great time! Here are a few pics….
